Responsibilities & Qualifications

The Novelis Terre Haute team is seeking an Associate Team Leader EMRA. The primary purpose for this position is to be responsible for the optimization and reliability of the plants utilities (Air, Gas, Water, and Electricity) and building structures, etc. The incumbent will also manage projects relative to changes and/or new installation of the various technologies, equipment and building structures, associated with the process and plant support equipment. This position manages the Carpenter Shop, Machine Shop, Outside Maintenance and the Truck Shop.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor their impacted area for opportunities to improve equipment and process safety, through compliance with all federal, state, local and Novelis programs, procedures, and regulations.
  • React quickly to remove safety detractors reported by others in the form of assigned Safety Work Orders(SWO’s), EHS Incident Reports and other communications.
  • Ensure that the all their engineering design efforts meet applicable standards, methods and practices, such as NEC, NFPA, ISO, OSHA, EPA, UL, etc.
  • Share expertise and guidance as the fleet manager for the Terre Haute plant.
  • Lead the plant's effort as the MEP SME
  • Work to Identify extended education needs such as workshops, classes, lectures, discussion groups, etc to support knowledge and skills growth.
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to other members of the organization in the area of Engineering Excellence where possible.
  • Attain all required certifications related to maintaining the plant utilities.
  • Assess the current assets, relative to its life cycle and capability in achieving the plant’s business plan and recommend appropriate equipment changes to achieve and sustain it.
  • Evaluate and recommend changes and/or new technologies which could differentiate Novelis in the market place through product quality, shorter lead times, cost, reduction in environment footprint and energy consumption, improved safety and health, etc.
  • Ensure reliability is an integral part of all projects and process optimization activities.
  • Assist the reliability organization in coordinating and performing Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) for all significant failures for the Facilities area.
  • When new projects and/or changes are made to existing assets, involve the reliability organization to help ensure the appropriate training, communication, documentation and PM/PdM’s are available and/or are created.
  • Manage the Facilities team through daily meetings to review accident incident reports, discuss safety and stop and think opportunities.
  • Provide scheduling of work by priority to meet the Terre Haute business needs. .
  • Provide leadership and guidance to ensure engineering activities related to Facilities are supported and appropriately considered for funding, to ensure they are completed in a timely manner, on budget and sustained.
  • Manage facilities contractors, HVAC, lawn maintenance, snow removal, nitrogen plant etc.
  • Ensure all preventative maintenance work orders are completed within the allotted timeframe.
  • Actively support the annual and five (5) year capital plan and all assigned projects, which in turn support the plant’s annual and strategic plans, ensuring the sustainability of the business.
  • Adhere to and support company quality, environmental, health & safety, and certification standards, including ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, ISO 45001:2018, IATF 16949:2016, and ASI Certifications, where applicable.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering Technology or related field) from an accredited university or institution.
  • 5 years of heavy industrial work experience and/or maintenance leadership experience.
  • Excellent communication (oral and written) skills; ability to collaborate with all levels in the organization
  • Ability to coordinate and prioritize responsibility; able to balance multiple tasks at once without sacrificing attention to detail; flexible and able to operate in a fast-paced environment.
  • Lead and develop other personnel to accomplish personal, plant, and corporate objectives
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office software, including but not limited to Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and Project
  • Experience using computerized maintenance management system (CMMS), preferably SAP
  • Project management experience, budget management, scheduling, coordinating contractors, and execution

Location Profile

Novelis’ Terre Haute facility is located in the center of the Wabash Valley about an hour drive from Indianapolis. The region is named for the nearby Wabash River. The facility’s 175 employees produce world-class light gauge aluminum that is used in the production of aluminum foil containers and household foil.
