Responsibilities & Qualifications

The Novelis Uhrichsville team is seeking a Maintenance Supervisor. This person will demonstrate teamwork and is a recognized Front-Line leader who demonstrates Novelis cultural beliefs and a commitment to high performance and our Focused 5. The Leader will lead a crew of multiskilled technicians to ensure safe, effective, and efficient continuous operational readiness through proactive maintenance and reliability of the facility and equipment. Additionally, this role will assist with process changes, installations, repairs and providing data to improve maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Promote zero SIF (Serious Infury of Fatality) and EHS (Environmental Health Safety) incident culture, support and participate in incident investigations to determine root cause, identify preventive actions, and implement CAPA immediately.
  • Communicate effectively with partners regarding EHS, people, quality, process, and equipment issues.
  • Lead a crew of 8 technicians by developing personal and working relationships, listening to new ideas and suggestions, and promoting participation in decision making.
  • Conduct routine audits of EHS consistency, completeness, work order accuracy, housekeeping, etc.
  • Complete prioritized daily maintenance activities (predictive, preventive, and breakdown maintenance) ensuring full utilization of the crew to minimize downtime
  • Communicate with Reliability (PDM, Predictive Maintenance) Technician and Engineers to solve problems to root cause, implement actions that prevent reoccurrence, improve operations, etc.
  • Develop, schedule, and provide training for technicians in areas of weakness.
  • Establish expectations, performance objectives and reviews for direct reports.
  • Use a maintenance escalation chain to minimize response times.
  • Manage and approve Technician timecards as required as well as manage overtime, vacations, and shift relief. (Update in Kronos)
  • Assist in recruitment for maintenance personnel.
  • Make sure all schedule work order needs to complete in system with notes what did.
  • Improve technician skill level by given by training through online, offline and shopfloor training.
  • Adhere to and support company quality, environmental, health & safety, and certification standards, including ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, ISO 45001:2018, IATF 16949:2016, and ASI Certifications, where applicable.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 4-year degree, 2-year technical degree; or experience equivalent preferred (Electrical or Mechanical Engineering)
  • 5+ years industrial maintenance experience
  • Industrial utility and facility system knowledge
  • Contractor management skills to perform project and maintenance activities
  • Experience scheduling and planning work and personnel
  • Very high mechanical proficiency
  • Maintenance knowledge, skills, and abilities in electrical and mechanical machinery
  • Maintenance planning and scheduling knowledge to complete planned work and record unplanned work
  • Maintenance spare part knowledge to establish stocking levels and sourcing strategies
  • Maintenance metrics knowledge to monitor, optimize and drive continuous improvement
  • Strong leadership and ability to develop, direct and motivate a highly effective maintenance team
  • Effective communication skills to work with all levels of the plant organization, contractors, and vendors
  • Proficient computer skills to store, retrieve and analyze data in Operating Controls, Microsoft Office, and Artist and Oracle applications
  • Troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities with industrial equipment
  • Decision-making ability to overcome upset conditions
  • Authentic hands-on approach

Preferred Qualifications

  • CMMS knowledge
  • Strong electrical, PLC and controls knowledge
  • CMRP (Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional) certified

Physical Demands

Individuals for this position need to be able to sit, stand, walk, crouch, kneel, bend, stoop, climb stairs or ladders during the normal course of duties on a routine basis. Individuals would also need to be able to hear, speak, see (including near, far, and peripheral site), handle with fingers, hands, or arms; lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds; reach above, at or below shoulder level during the normal course of duties on a routine basis. Keyboarding is a routine function.

Location Profile

Opened in 1985 the Uhrichsville facility produces flat rolled aluminum sheet. The rolling mill cold rolls aluminum sheet to a desired gauge anneals to temper levels and slits the rolled sheet to size. Employing more than 350 people the facility produces aluminum sheet for building and construction automotive distribution transportation and consumer durable applications.
