The Novelis Government Affairs team is seeking an ambitious and talented student for an internship at its Washington, D.C. location.

Responsibilities:

• Participate in industry and Congressional meetings and briefings, and prepare detailed summaries of discussions
• Help with the preparation of internal issue briefs and related communication points
• Research policy issues of importance to Novelis and the aluminum industry, e.g., tax, trade, environmental, energy, labor, etc.
• Manage, track and report on the status of relevant federal policy issues of interest to Novelis
• Assess federal/state election races of interest to Novelis with its presence in 12 states
• Help with the preparation of presentations using Microsoft Office software programs to create charts, graphs and slides as needed, with special emphasis on PowerPoint

Minimum Qualifications:

• Currently enrolled at an accredited four-year university program majoring in Public Policy, Political Science or related disciplines
• Basic understanding of the federal legislative process, as well as common business concepts
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Self-motivated and capable of working in small groups
• Strong analytical thinking skills
• Leadership skills, preferably demonstrated in school or volunteer activities
• Exceptional organizational skills
