Responsibilities & Qualifications

The Novelis Lincolnshire team is seeking a Sr. Reliability Engineer. This position is responsible for the development, implementation and execution of reliability master plans, while also ensuring optimum levels of availability of our assets and maintaining them at the lowest total cost of ownership.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to all Novelis Safety Principles to build a zero-injury culture.
  • Facilitate Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA) as specified by the manufacturing unit.
  • Coordinate and/or perform Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) for all significant failures in the manufacturing unit.
  • Use downtime analysis in the development of identifying gaps where engineering solutions to repetitive equipment failures and other equipment problems can be used.
  • Coordinate the development, implementation and review the asset care strategy for each critical asset in the manufacturing unit.
  • Interact with operators, crafts, planners, schedulers, associate leaders and engineers on a regular basis to ensure the effectiveness of the PM/PdM system.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, engineering, procurement, and other identified collaborators to drive improved asset availability and support fit for purpose training on reliability work processes and practices.
  • Provide administration, control, and analysis of all data, records, and equipment histories to continually review and refine PM frequencies.
  • Coordinate and provide training in PdM techniques.
  • Develop and refine the preventive/predictive maintenance program in a systematic manner.
  • Act as the Reliability representative on the new equipment installation and equipment modifications to ensure that full life cycle costing, reliability and maintainability are considered as part of the design.
  • Assist in material number generation for spare parts and hierarchy changes as required.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Ability to perform Predictive Maintenance Testing (i.e., Vibration, Tribology, Thermography, Ultrasound, Motor Circuit Analysis).
  • Ability to communicate efficiently both written and orally.
  • Microsoft Office product experience.
  • Ability to interpret mechanical and electrical drawings.
  • Understanding of hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Fundamental problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to conduct RCA investigations and interpret statistical datasets and charts.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge and experience in aluminum processes.
  • Certification as a CMRP (Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional).
  • Experience with capital project management.
  • Predictive analytics.
  • Experience working with the demands of a 24/7 manufacturing operation.

Location Profile

The finishing mill in Lincolnshire Illinois is located 26 miles from Chicago and was established in 1966.  The facility cold rolls aluminum to a desired gauges anneals to tempers levels and slits the rolled sheet to size.  The facility which employees around 100 people produces mill finish coils for the building construction and transportation industries where its’ products are used for gutters siding soffits and facia.  Lincolnshire is committed to the local community through its ongoing volunteer initiatives with a number of local organizations.
