Novelis – Guthrie, KY is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join Novelis at our Recycle Center in Guthrie, KY. The Electrical Engineer is responsible for providing leadership, direction, and support in designing and maintaining Electrical and Automation systems and controls. In addition, the incumbent provides expertise and directs the activities of others engaged in electrical engineering, reliability/maintenance, automation, and controls to achieve overall plant goals relating to quality, throughput, and efficiency.

Position Overview:

The Electrical Engineer is responsible for providing leadership, direction and support in the design and maintenance of Electrical and Automation systems and controls.  The incumbent provides expertise and directs the activities of others engaged in activities related to electrical engineering, reliability/maintenance, automation, and controls to achieve overall plant goals relating to quality, throughput, and efficiency.

Responsibilities:

• Maintain electrical and level one automation systems
  • Provide 24/7 support and troubleshooting assistance to maintain plant operations
  • Act as technical resource to coach/support maintenance personnel
  • Maintain and update plant and equipment electrical drawings
  • Integrate and Maintain PLC hardware system, remote I/O system, industrial control networks, industrial sensors, instrumentation, motors, and VFDs
  • Maintain automation ethernet network
• Plan and oversee projects
  • Work with contractors on project specifications, control plans, system testing, and commissioning
  • Responsible for instrument and control device selection, sizing, and specifications
• Support continuous improvement efforts
  • Track and analyze energy consumption and support improvement efforts
  • Improve control system performance (changes to PLC logic)
  • Plan and coordinate system/components upgrades and identify replacements in case of obsolescence

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering
• Minimum two years of experience as Electrical Engineer or Control/Systems Engineer
• Self-driven and proactive approach to work
• Willing to contribute to and support a collaborative environment
• Experienced in developing a scope of work using single line diagrams, P&ID's, equipment specifications, and project requirements to specify and complete electrical, instrument, and control systems
• Experience with PLC programming, preferably Allen Bradley systems (Studio 5000)
• Experience with HMI programming, preferably Allen Bradley Factory Talk View.
• Experience with AC/DC variable frequency drives; Preferably Allen Bradley Powerflex
• Experience using electrical AUTOCAD
• Experience with electrical and control system commissioning and maintenance in the metal industry

Novelis’ Guthrie facility is located in Guthrie Kentucky approximately 30 minutes from the Tennessee state line near Clarksville Tennessee and Hopkinsville Kentucky. As Novelis’ newest facility Guthrie will house a heat treatment and pretreatment line that will serve the North American automotive market and employ 125 residents.
