Responsibilities & Qualifications

The Novelis Guthrie, KY team is seeking a dynamic and experienced Process Leader to join Novelis for our Recycle Center in Guthrie, KY. The Process Leader is responsible for providing advanced business process management expertise in process and product quality control, developing new processes/products/practices, applying statistics, and identifying and resolving customer problems, including technical service to customers. A successful candidate will be self-directed and can communicate with team members at all levels, while driving process quality in alignment with the Novelis Operating System.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Use communication skills to establish partnerships across the site to achieve plant performance goals.
  • Work a flexible schedule, including occasional weekend duty as necessary to manage facility performance.
  • Represent assigned core area of responsibility while incorporating a more extensive scope of vision into their considerations. Local solutions with broad positive implications.
  • Identify and eliminate the causes of quality defects.
  • Resolve customer complaints (often involving providing technical assistance and advice to the customer.)
  • Assess and resolve of process deviations that lead to decreased quality, utilization, and throughput.
  • Participate in developing and refining new products for end-use effectiveness, manufacturing cost control, and market development.
  • Develop and implement projects ranging in scope from near-immediate needs to long-term critical initiatives.
  • Coordinate employees and resources associated with projects and daily activities at all levels of the site, including those external to the site.
  • Provide day-to-day support necessary to the manufacturing unit to obtain departmental objectives for safety, quality, cost, and recovery.
  • Establish and maintain operating practices, control plans, and quality standards.
  • Provide input on business decisions to ensure production, sales, and marketing decisions are taken with full knowledge of their technological implications.
  • Develop new processes and modify the existing ones to improve product quality and meet customer specifications at a minimum cost with uncompromised safety.
  • Contribute to customer satisfaction by prompt and accurate investigation and resolution of complaints with sustainable solutions.
  • Contribute to resolving in-plant product and process problems to meet the Manufacturing Unit's cost and production effectiveness objectives. Safety and Lean design are central to this functionality.
  • Develop a proactive relationship with employees through follow-up, understanding their needs, and fostering collaboration.
  • Understand Management of Change and identifying areas of improvement for Safety, Quality, and Production within your immediate department as well as the plant

 

Qualifications:

  • Experience in developing and implementing improvement processes and projects. Preferably in relevant aluminum metallurgical assignments of increasing complexity and magnitude.
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize workload; must be able to manage multiple tasks at once without sacrificing attention to detail.
  • Experience with 8D problem solving techniques
  • Personal traits should include the ability to apply human relation skills to motivate, train, understand, and develop others to attain the plant and corporate objectives
  • Understand automotive quality specifications.
  • Flexible and able to operate in a fast-paced environment

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in a technical field, Engineering, Metallurgy, or Chemical
  • Six Sigma Green Belt Certification
  • Experience leading and mentoring others. Supervising direct reports
  • Five (5) or more years of experience in Process or Product Quality, aluminum industry

Location Profile

Novelis’ Guthrie facility is located in Guthrie Kentucky approximately 30 minutes from the Tennessee state line near Clarksville Tennessee and Hopkinsville Kentucky. As Novelis’ newest facility Guthrie will house a heat treatment and pretreatment line that will serve the North American automotive market and employ 125 residents. In addition to hunting fishing and hiking residents enjoy the Guthrie Transportation Museum which is the hub of the city’s renewal efforts. The Guthrie team enjoys partnerships with Hopkinsville Community College Todd County High School Guthrie Fire Department and several local Rotary Clubs.
