Responsibilities & Qualifications

The Novelis Lincolnshire team is seeking an Associate Production Planner. This role is responsible for performing activities in the areas of planning, production scheduling, inventory control, logistics, and customer service in an efficient manner.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a safe working environment by aligning with Novelis EHS standards and policies, all state and federal regulations, and company policies and procedures.
  • Perform Production Planning & Scheduling activities in support of a 24/7 production operation.
  • Perform inventory control activities including tracking WIP levels to monitor supply shortfall risk and cycle counts to ensure accurate inventory.
  • Support the new items and specifications process.
  • Produce dashboard reports and other statistical reporting.
  • Fill in for other Production and Logistics Planners as needed.
  • Perform timely customer communication for both internal and external customers.
  • Participate in continuous improvement teams and drive initiatives.
  • Work within the parameters created by the ISO9001:2015 quality system.
  • Perform all other duties and projects as assigned and required by the Supply Chain Leader.

Qualifications:

  • Associates Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Finance, Industrial Engineering, or related field or 10+ years of relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of production planning and control in a manufacturing environment.
  • An understanding of business and management principles, leadership strategies and strategic planning.
  • Familiarity with the principles of supply chain management.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook) and knowledge of business systems
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and interpersonal skills with ability to use logic, math, and database tools to support initiatives.
  • Computer proficient, i.e., pivot tables, Access, and data conversion with ability to present functional specifications to the IT Department.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direction.
  • Ability to achieve timely results, balance multiple tasks and objectives, and to manage change.
  • Willing to provide constructive feedback, provide information clearly and generate solutions.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Related manufacturing and logistics experience
  • Ability to learn new software packages quickly and apply knowledge to daily tasks and projects.
  • Ability to demonstrate effective team leadership and team membership skills.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and planning tools.
  • Possess strong customer orientation.
  • Possess strong decision making and problem-solving skills including the ability to solve problems while exhibiting practical judgment and realistic understanding of the issues involved.
  • Overcome obstacles and find reasonable resolutions to situations on a case-by-case basis as encountered.
  • Exercise discretion when determining if direction from manager is needed.
  • Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
  • Recognize data needed to make decisions, collect data, and analyze to determine direction in which to proceed. If issue is beyond authority level or scope of work, must recommend plan of action to manager to proceed.

Location Profile

The finishing mill in Lincolnshire Illinois is located 26 miles from Chicago and was established in 1966.  The facility cold rolls aluminum to a desired gauges anneals to tempers levels and slits the rolled sheet to size.  The facility which employees around 100 people produces mill finish coils for the building construction and transportation industries where its’ products are used for gutters siding soffits and facia.  Lincolnshire is committed to the local community through its ongoing volunteer initiatives with a number of local organizations.
