Position Overview 

Novelis Oswego has an exciting opportunity for a Roll Assembler! Roll Assemblers will disassemble and reassemble, repair, and replace components for all of the roll assemblers for the Hot Mill and Cold Mill manufacturing Units in strict compliance to our established standards.  

Responsibilities 

• The successful bidder will be expected to disassemble and reassemble, repair, and replace components for all of the roll assemblies for the Hot Mill and Cold Mill Manufacturing Units in strict compliance to our established standards 

• Candidate is expected to advance through the maintenance pay grade system.   

• Expected to participate in all Safety programs 

• Use email to effectively communicate within the department and externally to other departments 

• Use Lotus Notes systems to search for the latest job SOP’s, JHA’s and JI’s 

• Use Shop Floor Process Control Plan system to stay abreast of the latest process and product requirements, whether Lotus Notes or Internet based 

• Use the SAP system to put in maintenance or safety work orders as needed

Qualifications:   

• The successful bidder will be expected to disassemble and reassemble, repair, and replace components for all the roll assemblies for the Hot Mill and Cold Mill Manufacturing Units in strict compliance to our established standards. 

• MUST possess mechanical abilities/background to perform basic heavy maintenance tasks. Proven experience as an auto technician and/or mechanic for 2+ years is required.  

• Deep knowledge of hydraulic systems 

• MUST meet basic qualifications for operating Mobile Equipment. Example: cab and pendant cranes and fork truck certified  

• Knowledge of rigging symmetrical/non-symmetrical loads is preferred.  

• Must possess good communication skills, work as a team member, and rotate through team roles. 

• Must possess acceptable people skills. 

• Candidate is expected to advance through the maintenance pay grade system.   

• Expected to participate in all Safety programs. 

• Use email to effectively communicate within the department and externally to other departments. 

• Use ETQ system to search for the latest job SOP’s, JHA’s and JI’s. 

• Use SAP to submit maintenance or safety work orders as needed. 

• Travel maybe required for training purposes.
