Responsibilities & Qualifications

The North America Metal team is seeking a Program Lead, Automotive Closed Loop Recycling. The position will work with the various partners in the automotive and OEM scrap value stream to secure annual CLR agreements with OEMs and Tiers, implement, manage, and improve the business processes required to maintain a continuous flow of automotive and OEM scrap from the various automotive stamping plants and tiers back into the Novelis manufacturing plants. The position requires working closely with all automotive OEMs, Tier 1 suppliers as well our internal business partners in automotive sheet sales, sustainability, product development, supply chain, logistics, scrap tolling, recycling operations, procurement, and finance to implement mutually beneficial agreements to purchase scrap the scrap required by Novelis to produce new aluminum coil.

Responsibilities

  • Implement commercial agreements to fulfil and resolve disputes connected with CLR contracts and scrap purchase agreements.
  • Work across functional lines within Novelis and OEM to identify and implement business and operational process improvements to the existing programs.
  • Ensure the successful launch of new CLR and scrap purchase agreements and continuously seek out process improvements throughout the value stream.
  • Optimize existing and future auto CLR programs to achieve annual plan for delivering required scrap units to Novelis plants and tolling partners in North America at plan volumes and spreads.
  • Collaborate closely with Manager and Auto Commercial team to create OEM specific CLR scrap acquisition plans to support NNA targets.
  • Establish deep plant relationships at each OEM and tier to facilitate changes, scrap movements, and monthly reconciliations.
  • Develop and maintain a well-rounded view of the delivered cost of metal units, identifying and implementing opportunities for cost reductions and program improvements by working with Novelis plants, logistics, supply chain, EPO, and scrap tolling partners.
  • Providing full end to end understanding of Novelis’ CLR value stream for OEMs and providing support to NNA Commercial Auto to use this advantage in closing CLR agreements.
  • Responsible to understand technical aspects of OEM’s scrap segregation and handling systems including alloy fair share.
  • Work with commercial and technical services to understand changes in job routing that influence scrap flows.
  • Manage commercial aspects of quality and scrap claims for OEM purchased scrap units.
  • Assist Manager in the launching of new CLR agreements; work to support relationship with other program suppliers.
  • Provide supply chain forecasts for CLR and other contracted business by analyzing build rates, supplier forecasts and historical data.
  • Support Auto Fact Base and support NNA and Corporate efforts to understand automotive scrap generation, flows, and mill consumers of automotive scrap.

Qualifications

  • BS in process engineering, business, or related field
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience, scrap industry experience preferred
  • Strong analytical, written, and oral communication skills with solid Microsoft Office computer skills
  • Customer service oriented
  • Automotive and SAP experience a plus
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel up to 20% of the time
