Novelis Oswego has an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Technician! The primary focus of this position is maintenance, service and repair of facilities and equipment. Successful Mechanical Technicians are fast learners and self-motivated, independent workers. They will have the ability to work under pressure and the willingness to work in varying conditions. Mechanical Technicians receive training in troubleshooting, technical procedures, and safety.

Responsibilities
• Perform highly diversified duties to install and maintain machines and the plant facility’s equipment
• Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and perform scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service
• Perform simple machinist duties and responsibilities
• Perform mechanic skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting and repair of production machines
• Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service
• Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test and make adjustments
• Perform regular preventive maintenance on machines, equipment and plant facilities
• Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas

Qualifications
• 2 Year Mechanical Tech Degree or 5+ years’ experience

• Medical Clearance for use of Fall Protection Harness (Weight restrictions related to equipment limitations may apply)• Machine repair and troubleshooting
• Hand tools & measuring instruments
• Welding
• Experience with pipe fitting, centrifugal pipe repair, rigging & lifting, rotating equipment, industrial hydraulic power, bearings, industrial lubrication, and statistical process control
Preferred Qualifications
• Manufacturing experience preferred

For this role, the pay is from 35.67 USD / hour. Individual pay will vary based on qualifications, experience, and performance.
