Responsibilities & Qualifications

 

The Novelis North America (NNA) team is seeking an Associate Category Manager, Contractors and Services. Reporting to the Senior Manager Procurement, the Associate Category Manager, Contractors and Services is responsible for owning the C&S Category in North America, with an annual spend of US$65M, ensuring security of supply, lowest total cost-of-ownership, and service levels to our operations. This position supports a broad range of the company’s sourcing needs across multiple sites in the region and is responsible for the execution of the Strategic Source Plan, that considers supply markets, contending demand, position of Novelis, portfolio analysis, supplier cost analysis, strategic options and tactical recommendations.

Responsibilities:

  • Drives the development and execution of sourcing strategies by performing needs assessment, market and supplier analysis for assigned categories.
  • Develop and maintain a dynamic fact-based database and content as part of the regional Source Plan to support implementing the sourcing strategy, with a two to five years horizon.
  • Supports sourcing activities, RFQs, RFPs and negotiations with multiple suppliers and service providers.
  • Spend analysis and reporting, market intelligence, proposals and project evaluation.
  • Leads internal approvals process.
  • Collaborative work and continuous engagement with cross functional internal partners such as Engineering leads, Plant Controllers, Plant Managers, Plant procurement team, financial reporting, etc.
  • Supplier relationship management and origination. Develop and maintain an extensive knowledge of the supplier base and their respective value chains to ensure continuity of supply. Develops and lead QBR including performance metrics and use of supplier scorecards.
  • Proactively challenges both the needs of the business and the efficient means of meeting those needs including the consideration of alternative materials, transportation modes, services, processes, and/or vendors.
  • Assist in developing and facilitating efficiency, innovation, and cost savings workshops within the region, handling cost savings projects (Project Management).
  • Effectively negotiate costs and services with Suppliers, and formalize these into Master Supply Agreements that reduce risk to the business.
  • Apply professional project management skills and regularly present status updates to senior leadership.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BS/BA degree in Business, Supply Chain, Finance or related
  • 7+ years of experience in a procurement, commercial or supply chain function
  • Proven Negotiation and Commercial Terms Management skills
  • Proven Project Management experience
  • Strong Leadership, Interpersonal, and Communication skills
  • Strong ability to analyze and solve problems
  • Travel is required to Novelis Plants in the US and Canada, up to 20% - 30% of the time
  • Highly effective verbal and written communications at all levels of the organization
  • Able to influence and thrive in a Team environment
  • Strong analytical background as well as presentation skills to effectively summarize and report/drive discussion with key internal partners
  • Detail oriented, with experience handling multiple projects and changing priorities
  • Exhibits strong sense of ownership, getting results
  • Able to work cross-functionally within a Manufacturing environment
  • High degree of proficiency in Microsoft Office; SAP experience is a plus

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA preferred
  • Work experience in manufacturing or primary metals is preferred.
  • Prior experience developing Strategic Source plans and commodity management preferred.
  • Green Belt, or higher, certification preferred.
