Responsibilities & Qualifications

The Novelis Guthrie, KY team is seeking a Reliability Engineer to join Novelis for our recently announced expansion/greenfield start-up Recycle Center in Guthrie, KY. The person in this role will report to our Associate EMRA Leader. The ideal candidate will be responsible for improving manufacturing performance and equipment reliability by reducing machine downtime and unscheduled Maintenance.

Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate and drive the Guthrie Condition Monitoring Program, as it pertains to Predictive and Preventive Maintenance, Infrared Thermography, Tribology, Ultrasonic, Vibration Analysis, Motor Circuit Analysis, etc.
  • Provide technical expertise to complete cost-effective preventive and predictive asset strategies to achieve best in class availability and reliability of the plant process equipment
  • Provide support for equipment related loss investigations to determine causal factors and provide technical recommendations and mitigation plans to prevent reoccurrence
  • Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Procurement, and other identified collaborators to drive improved asset availability and support fit for purpose training on reliability work processes and practices
  • Support equipment related data capture for analysis and trending to establish equipment health, evaluation of risk, identifying bad actors and opportunities for improvement
  • Publish Reliability Key Performance Indicators to measure and improve Reliability performance of the equipment assets and reliability related work processes
  • Assess Equipment Criticalities and assist in developing Asset Strategies to achieve cost-effective reliability, availability, and performance of the plant equipment
  • Ensure the facility's assets are operating reliably, efficiently, and follows all safety guidelines and government regulations
  • Assist in developing 1-year, and 3-year Reliability Tactical Plan Plans to improve equipment availability and performance
  • Assist in supporting Maintenance in the development of forward-looking multi-year equipment replacement and overhaul plans
  • Find opportunities to use reliability best processes, technology, automation, and Artificial Intelligence to promote cost-effective asset care and performance
  • Support Maintenance in the review and rationalization, and optimization of effective PM plans
  • Support storeroom operations through spare parts reviews and obsolescence
  • Use communication skills to establish partnerships across the site to achieve plant performance goals
  • Work a flexible schedule, including occasional weekend duty as necessary to manage facility performance

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experience in developing and implementing improvement processes and projects
  • Knowledge of reliability-centered Maintenance and ability to facilitate investigations and develop mitigation plans to address findings
  • Experience with Maintenance best processes such as Precision Maintenance techniques (e.g., dynamic balancing, equipment alignment, equipment repair standards, etc.)
  • Experience with predictive maintenance technologies (i.e., Vibration, Tribology, Thermography, Ultrasound, Motor Circuit Analysis)
  • Knowledge and experience with Process Control
  • Experience with proactive reliability tools and Root-Cause-Analysis methodology
  • Experience solving equipment issues and analyzing production loss and reliability data
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Project and PowerPoint

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science Degree or combination of post-secondary education and related experience
  • Five (5) or more years of experience in Maintenance, Engineering, or Operations, Aluminum industry
  • Experience with a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), SAP
  • CMRP certification or other reliability certification

Location Profile

Novelis’ Guthrie facility is located in Guthrie Kentucky approximately 30 minutes from the Tennessee state line near Clarksville Tennessee and Hopkinsville Kentucky. As Novelis’ newest facility Guthrie will house a heat treatment and pretreatment line that will serve the North American automotive market and employ 125 residents. In addition to hunting fishing and hiking residents enjoy the Guthrie Transportation Museum which is the hub of the city’s renewal efforts. The Guthrie team enjoys partnerships with Hopkinsville Community College Todd County High School Guthrie Fire Department and several local Rotary Clubs.
