Responsibilities & Qualifications

The Sourcing & Procurement team, located in Greensboro, Georgia, is seeking a Procurement Operations Leader. The Associate Procurement Operations Leader (Assoc.-POL) is responsible for ensuring the effective and efficient supply of raw materials, direct and indirect goods, and services to the manufacturing facility, with a strong emphasis on safety, quality, total cost of ownership (TCO), and innovation.

 

The Assoc.-POL identifies risks within the suppliers' value chains and implements mitigating actions. Additionally, the Assoc.-POL provides exceptional sourcing and tactical buying services to the supporting manufacturing plant, aiming to ensure supply security, achieve the lowest total cost of ownership, generate sustainable savings, foster value creation through innovation, and manage risks.

 

Furthermore, the Assoc.-POL will be commercially accountable for managing the manufacturing plants operating supply budget. They will be the Single Point of Contact for all spend and risk activities with a dotted line reporting structure to Plant Managers.

 

The Assoc.- POL will need to maintain regular communication with Plant Managers and Plant Controllers to ensure alignment and accountability They also identify operational risks across the suppliers' value chains and defines mitigating actions. The Assoc.-POL delivers comprehensive commercial services to the manufacturing units by deploying a professional strategy to achieve operational excellence in procurement processes, systems, and tools.

Responsibilities

To achieve the objectives, the incumbent will deliver the following services to the manufacturing unit:

Procurement Management

  • Ensure the effective and efficient supply of raw materials, direct and indirect goods, and services to the manufacturing facility.
  • Negotiate optimal pricing and delivery terms with loca vendors, resolving performance and delivery issues.
  • Process purchase requisitions and issue purchase orders accurately and timely.
  • Obtain vendor confirmations and verify promise dates to ensure timely delivery.
  • Confirm product delivery and resolve any discrepancies or issues.
  • Cost Optimization
  • Align Plant Procurement activities with plant objectives as an active member of the Plant Leadership team.
  • Pursue cost savings and containment through strategic sourcing, pricing bids, and negotiations.
  • Communicate procurement plans, status, and issues to relevant stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including manufacturing, finance, and operations, to align procurement activities with organizational goals.
  • Provide regular updates to senior management on procurement performance and initiatives.
  • Pursue cost savings and containment through strategic sourcing and competitive bidding.
  • Collaborate with category managers to negotiate pricing and terms.
  • Implement cost-saving initiatives and track savings achieved.

 Strategic Sourcing & Supplier Relationship Management

  • Lead strategic sourcing projects involving cross-functional teams to ensure operational material and service requirements are met.
  • Collaborate with Global and North American Procurement Category Managers to align sourcing strategies
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers.
  • Address and resolve supplier performance issues promptly.
  • Explore opportunities for collaboration and innovation with suppliers.
  • Conduct thorough market research to identify potential vendors.
  • Evaluate vendors based on quality, cost, delivery performance, and reliability.
  • Establish criteria for vendor selection and regularly review vendor performance.
  • Negotiate favorable terms and conditions with vendors to ensure optimal pricing and delivery.
  • Draft, review, and manage procurement contracts to ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor contract performance and address any deviations or issues promptly.

 Data Collection and Analysis

  • Collect and analyze data related to procurement activities, supplier performance, and market trends.
  • Use data insights to inform decision-making and improve procurement strategies.
  • Track key metrics to measure procurement effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Track and report key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness.
  • Collect data for commodities, plant, or corporate procurement initiatives.
  • Analyze data to anticipate alterations in the negotiating ability of suppliers and key stakeholders.

Risk Management

  • Monitor and review risk management plans regularly.
  • Ensure all procurement activities comply with company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify risks within the suppliers' value chains and implement mitigating actions.
  • Perform risk management for supply contracts and agreements, preparing control strategies for unfavorable events.
  • Align with NNA SQRM Lead to review Supplier Quality services, resolving quality-related issues and identifying new supplier opportunities
  • Collaborate with plant operations and NNA SQRM Lead on supplier performance criteria in line with plant requirements and vendor management policies.

Process Improvement

  • Identify areas for improvement within the procurement process.
  • Implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Continuously review and refine procurement processes to ensure best practices.
  • Drive process improvements within the Procure-to-Pay process to enhance overall efficiencies.
  • Propose continuous improvement and simplification of tasks to maximize resource utilization.

Project Management

  • Lead and manage procurement-related projects from inception to completion, ensuring timely delivery, adherence to budget, and compliance with quality standards.
  • Develop detailed project plans, including timelines, budgets, and resource allocation, while coordinating and collaborating with various internal and external stakeholders.
  • Identify potential project risks and implement effective mitigation strategies.
  • Monitor and track project progress regularly, making necessary adjustments to ensure objectives are met.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements in all procurement activities within the project.
  • Resolve issues and conflicts that arise during the project lifecycle.
  • Communicate project status, issues, and successes to all stakeholders, including senior management.

Minimum qualifications

  • BS/BA Degree in Business, Engineering, Supply Chain, or similar
  • 2-5 years of procurement experience and influential leadership experience
  • Ability to establish objectives for optimizing cost
  • Strong Microsoft Office Suite (MS Word, Outlook, and Excel)
  • Self-starter with proven track record in problem solving/resolution
  • Some knowledge/exposure to Maintenance related MRO commodities
  • Experience in Coupa, SAP or Oracle Procurement/Maintenance Systems is preferred
  • Experience in the following areas is required: Contractor and supplier development, scope of work review, value analysis, delivery and quality assurance, alternative material evaluation, price increase challenges, specification
