Responsibilities & Qualifications

The Novelis Bay Minette, AL team is seeking a Senior Hosting Specialist for the Bay Minette facility. This position will provide services for enterprise infrastructure and applications via private and public cloud solutions. This includes planning, design, implementation, monitoring and maintenance of core security and infrastructure devices and services from the base hardware through OS deployment and maintenance for on-premise systems, as well as cloud services and technologies. This role reports to the Plant IT Manager of the Novelis Bay Minette. 

 

Responsibilities: 

 

  • Be a role model for the Novelis Safety Absolutes to build a zero-injury culture and the Novelis cultural beliefs of Be Authentic, Say Anything, Be Open and Built Trust
  • Use common frameworks and orchestration to limit human involvement in supervising alert responses and resolution, VM provisioning/de-provisioning, CMDB data management, failover/availability execution, common maintenance tasks, and reporting.
  • Apply cloud principles across platforms to design, develop, and scale robust cloud solutions for applications and shared service technologies. Develop and maintain platform standards and policies for cloud architecture and support the integration of cloud solutions with the existing infrastructure architecture.
  • Design, implement, and maintain core service delivery to support ongoing IT and business operations, including Active Directory, Azure AD/SSO, data protection and backup, Citrix, and disaster recovery.
  • Resolve requirements, architecture design, and standards that will enable common support practices/tools and provide a highly available environment to host business and manufacturing applications. Handle ongoing support that includes hardware/firmware maintenance and currency, along with long term planning and alignment to a five-year hardware lifecycle.
  • Develop plans to apply the appropriate technology to serve and support the business initiatives from an infrastructure perspective. This includes defining requirements, evaluating technology, setting standards, optimizing costs, ensuring cybersecurity posture, and leading lifecycle.
  • Analyze, design, implement, secure and maintain infrastructure platforms (hardware, and data storage) in alignment with organization’s strategic direction. Design, maintain, upgrade and lead data centers, plant local environments, and other operational components to support development and operations efforts.
  • Monitor systems and processes to proactively identify issues, answer queries, provide triage and support for all levels of incidents, coordinate responses across various technologies, teams, and vendors. Initiate and maintain communications with stakeholder(s) to enable effective problem resolution and to promote accurate documentation.

 

Minimum Qualifications: 

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related Information Technology field
  • 3 - 6 years of proven ability
  • Experience in central and remote infrastructure clusters

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

 

  • Experience in Manufacturing environment
  • Working knowledge of Active Directory (AD), Domain Name Service (DNS), and networking

 

Physical Requirements: 

 

  • Near constant standing with frequent walking and occasional sitting
  • Occasional below waist level work, climbing, balancing, carrying, reaching over 15” away from the body, reaching above shoulder, fine motor skills, use of forceful motion, and lifting up to 35 lbs
  • Occasional push/pull, and lifting up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to meet the physical requirements, with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Able and willing to work at heights

Location Profile

Novelis' newly announced Bay Minette facility will be located 35 miles northeast of Mobile AL and 45 miles west of Pensacola FL and is expected to create approximately 1000 high-paying advanced careers in modern manufacturing. This highly advanced rolling and recycling facility will be the first of its kind. It will primarily serve our customers in the beverage can and automotive markets.
