Head of Global Security

Position Overview:
Novelis is seeking a Head of Global Security. The person in this role will report to the VP, General Counsel of Novelis Inc. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing, executing, and continuously improving a comprehensive enterprise-wide security risk management strategy, emergency preparedness, employee and asset protection, and other appropriate security programs and platforms across global operations. This role is accountable for all aspects of security risk management with respect to the sustainability of the enterprise, including financial, operational, and strategic risks. This is a highly visible role requiring honesty, integrity and, at times, around-the-clock responsiveness.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Design and lead a global security program and strategy aligned with corporate objectives to protect people, facilities, and assets.
  • Analyze and collect intelligence using a broad network of security resources, contacts, and established relationships while having extensive first-hand knowledge of various cultures and global business practices.
  • Implement planning frameworks used to prevent, mitigate, prepare, respond to, and recover from emergent crises to ensure continuity of operations through protocols for organizational resilience, recovery, and contingency plans.
  • Develop protocols for safe employee travel and plan and coordinate security for special events and for the security of participants and stakeholders.
  • Oversee the global security team, including setting team goals and objectives.
  • Manage the global security budget, vendor contracts, and key performance indicators.
  • Manage and coordinate enterprise-wide implementation of integrated security platforms that include access control, intrusion detection, duress, and video surveillance systems across all Novelis locations and assets by defining best in class physical security standards, conducting physical security assessments, identifying appropriate and cost-effective solutions, and optimizing technology.
  • Administer and develop the company’s C-suite executive protection program; implement and manage enterprise-wide initiatives including emergency drills, first aid training, active threat and assailant training, behavioral threat assessments, policy development, and employee security awareness training.
  • Leverage research, monitor and assess websites, online discussions, chat rooms, message boards, talkbacks, and other forums to uncover and remediate issues impacting the company, its assets, employees, brand, customers, and reputation.
  • Investigate and support corporate investigations in areas such as potential compliance violations, employee misconduct, Code of Conduct violations, fraud, theft, property damage, and other internal or external affairs.
  • Advise various internal Novelis departments on personnel issues and background checks, business and travel risks, cybersecurity issues, investigations into audits and ethics violations, physical security issues, and other security issues related to current world affairs.
  • Collaborate and expand relationships with law enforcement agencies and other contacts.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least 10 years of experience in security management, including security systems and crisis management in a corporate environment.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field such as: Criminal Justice, Security Management, Business Administration, Risk Management Law Enforcement or a related discipline.
  • Experience managing security budgets.
  • Strong risk assessment and threat analysis skills.
  • High integrity and ethical standards in a visible, professional role.
  • Excellent computer skills: MS Office and other general applications.
  • Understanding of IT and cybersecurity, firewalls, etc. and impacts on corporate security.
  • Leadership presence and skills, operational agility, and ability to make decisions in high-pressure, real-time situations.
  • Exceptional visioning, strategic planning, and critical thinking to achieve high-performance results in diverse environments.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills in terms of interfacing effectively and positively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Understanding of critical domains: program strategy and structure; leadership, staffing and organization; finance and budget management; policies, procedures, and protocols; technologies and technical systems; physical security; awareness; trainings and presentations; stakeholder communication; and evaluating program performance.
