Novelis is seeking a Metal Buyer to join the Global Metal Procurement team to manage supplier relationships and scrap purchases within various Latin America regions, specifically in Central America and Mexico. The person in this role will report to the Sr. Manager of Global Recycling. The ideal candidate will be responsible for purchasing aluminum scrap materials to support Novelis’s goal of achieving 75% recycled content in its products.

Responsibilities:

• Negotiate and conduct purchasing activity with a high level of integrity, transparency, compliance, accountability, and professionalism
• Ensure monthly scrap demand, pricing, and purchasing requirements are met across Novelis Regions
• Ensure delivery of purchases are met on time in full
• Work with internal customers and suppliers to help mediate rejections, delays, disruptions, payment issues, claims, and moisture deducts
• Manage sustained growth of scrap purchasing portfolio and maintain strategic supply flow
• Gain deep understanding of scrap metal business, operations, competition, and market-specific scrap ecosystems
• Actively communicate and build relationships with suppliers to ensure strong partnership growth
• Actively arrange and travel to new and existing supplier yards and offices to build relations and improve quality, safety, and processes (at least 3-4 times a year)

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree.
• Fluent language capabilities in Spanish and English in a professional setting
• 3-5+ years of experience in procurement/commercial roles, preferably within non-ferrous scrap industry.
• Ability to create and maintain databases and presentations to manage and share information with various stakeholders
• Demonstrated commercial thinking and drive.
• Ability and willingness to work in a multicultural team with multifunctional experts
• Ability and willingness to work across multiple regions and time zones
• Good communication, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
• Ability to build relationships with internal stakeholders and suppliers in a global context.
• Willingness to travel internationally across responsible regions (up to 10%)

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in a multinational company
• 3-5+ years of Aluminum industry experience
• SAP Procurement knowledge and experience
• Experience working with Latin American scrap commodity markets
