Position Overview

The Novelis North America Bay Minette Technical team is looking for a Product Development Leader to be located at our new facility in Bay Minette, Alabama. This role supports the Bay Minette facility and will be responsible for leading the process and product development team to create innovative and effective solutions for the Mus and our customers. The goal is to develop products and processes that meet customer needs and Bay Minette KPIs.

This position will report to the Technical Manager.

Responsibilities

• Be a role model for safety; demonstrating behaviors that align with the Novelis Safety Absolutes and Safety Principles to build a zero-injury culture.
• Collaborate with engineering, product performance, production and sales teams to ensure products and processes are developed in accordance with customer and market needs.
• Manage process and product development projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.
• Plan team development through training management, talent identification and development.
• Daily coordination with product development engineers, manufacturing unit process engineers, product engineers, and quality lab technicians.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering or related field; Metallurgical engineering preferred
• 5+ years in process and product development, engineering, materials, and production processes; experience in aluminum rolling process preferred
• Experience in resource/people management, laboratory environment & industrial metrology
• Must possess leadership skills to direct, lead and develop other personnel to accomplish personal, plant and corporate objectives.
• Excellent communication (oral and written) skills; ability to communicate with all levels in the organization.
• Ability to organize and prioritize feature work; must be able to lead multiple tasks at once without sacrificing attention to detail.
• Must be flexible and able to operate in a fast-paced and demanding environment.
• Solid computer skills with software applications proficiency, including Microsoft Office. Ability to learn new software programs quickly.
