Position Overview

The Novelis Bay Minette, AL team is seeking an Engineering, Maintenance and Reliability Manager to lead our Central Services department. The purpose of this role is to lead and manage the Maintenance and Reliability functions. This role will contribute to the achievement of plant and corporate strategic objectives while meeting the Manufacturing areas internal and external customer requirements. As a member of this team, you will work with and advise plant leaders on important reliability processes and strategies to improve efficiency, enhance capital investments and optimize equipment uptime.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the equipment and facility operate safely by aligning with Novelis EHS standards and policies, all state and federal laws, and company policies and procedures.
  • Implements processes that reveal safety hazards and develops sustainable corrective actions.
  • Develop and implement an overall maintenance and engineering strategy to deliver operational stability and enhance plant productivity.
  • Planning, scheduling, and implementing capital projects according to strict deadlines and within budget. This includes accruing resources and coordinating the efforts of team members and third-party contractors or consultants to deliver projects according to plan.
  • Develop and initiate yearly department operations plan. Draft and submit budget proposals and recommend subsequent budget changes when vital.
  • Re-assess and re-direct maintenance and engineering efforts and focus on improved reliability, quality, and reducing operating cost.
  • Lead the efforts of root cause failure analysis with recommended solutions.
  • Implement the vital tools and systems to efficiently manage preventative maintenance, predictive maintenance, and general work orders at the facility.
  • Set and communicate clear performance standards and hold direct reports accountable for results.
  • Continuously improve the efficient use of financial and human resources in the performance of duties.
  • Foster a culture of empowerment, trust and employee engagement and accountability.
  • Develop the capabilities of all engineering and maintenance employees through effective training, performance evaluations, potential appraisals and provide for opportunities to enhance potential.
  • Provide support as required to the operation by performing other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or Reliability field, plus 10+ years of industrial/heavy manufacturing experience
  • 7+ years Operations, Maintenance or Engineering Leadership Experience
  • Knowledge/application and Experience in areas of:
  • Precision, Predictive and Preventive Maintenance Practices
  • Work Management and Planning/Scheduling Processes
  • Equipment Criticality and Spare Parts Analysis
  • Be role model for leading and developing a positive, team-oriented culture
  • Excellent Computer Skills; proficient in Microsoft Office software
  • Experience with SAP Computer Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)
  • Willingness to be available to rotating shifts, off-shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed to support continuous operations.
  • Speaks/Writes English fluently and Communicates Effectively

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional Engineering (P.E.) Certification
  • Previous experience with a greenfield, brownfield sites or new acquisition integration preferred
  • 10+ Years in an Aluminum manufacturing setting
  • PLC, mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical experience
  • Project Management Experience with large Capital Investments and use of MS Project

Physical Requirements:

  • Near constant standing with frequent walking and occasional sitting
  • Occasional below waist level work, climbing, balancing, carrying, reaching over 15” away from the body, reaching above shoulder, fine motor skills, use of forceful motion, and lifting up to 35 lbs
  • Occasional push/pull, and lifting up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to meet the physical requirements, with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Able and willing to work at heights

Location Profile

Novelis’ newly announced Bay Minette facility will be located 35 miles northeast of Mobile AL and 45 miles west of Pensacola FL and is expected to create approximately 1000 high-paying advanced careers in modern manufacturing and become fully operational in 2025. This highly advanced rolling and recycling facility will be the first of its kind. It will primarily serve our customers in the beverage can and automotive markets.
