Position Overview:

The Novelis Uhrichsville team is seeking a dynamic and experienced Quality Systems Engineer. This role is responsible for providing continuous monitoring and improvement of the quality management system and facilitating activities that progress the systems in ways that meet the business needs. The incumbent will work closely with all levels of plant personnel.

This position is 100 % onsite, in the plant.

Responsibilities:

• Responsible for the site business management system maintenance and update
• Responsible for regulatory requirements and standards certifications as required by the business unit. Primarily ISO 9001- 2015 and customer specific requirements.
• Responsible for collaborating with Customer’s representatives during customer directed audits
• Plans and leads internal audit function and is responsible for planning and organization readiness for the annual registrar (SAI) and corporate audits. As well as customer audits, surveys and assessments as needed.
• Responsible for document control and repository key user (ETQ).
• Supports Process engineer and PPQ engineer on management reviews, major quality initiatives and process improvements.
• Use WCM methodologies to resolve customer complaints and troubleshoot internal quality concerns. (Often involving provision of technical assistance and advice to the customer.)
• Root cause analysis for customer complaints and internal rejection. 8D for major customer complaints and internal rejection. Checking effectiveness of actions in 8D and follow up with team on it. Circulating weekly 8D status.
• Conducting weekly meetings with customer and marketing
• Review the weekly status of ISO audits and make action plan for improvement of ISO systems.
• Training and development of PPQ and operations engineer and workman for QMS activity.
• Working on power BI and generating reports daily, weekly and monthly.
• Review of FMEA and control plan along with process team.
• Conducting monthly LPA review and improving effectiveness of LPA audits.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in scientific field is required
• 3 years of relevant experience in Quality management system responsibility with auto industry emphasis in a large tier one organization
• ISO 9001 auditor trained
• Reliance ETQ user preferred
• Excellent communication (oral and written) skills; ability to communicate with all levels in the organization
• Personal traits should include the ability to apply human relation skills to motivate, train, understand, and develop others to attain the objectives
• Desire to take initiative and develop a pro-active relationship with employees through follow-up, understanding their needs and encouraging a collaborative relationship
• Ability to coordinate and prioritize workload; must be able to manage multiple tasks at once without sacrificing attention to detail
• Proven computer skills with software applications proficiency, including Microsoft Office. Ability to learn new software programs quickly.
• Must also possess leadership skills to direct, lead and develop other personnel to accomplish personal, plant and corporate objectives.

Opened in 1985 the Uhrichsville facility produces flat rolled aluminum coil. The Recycling mill prepares scrap aluminum that is used in the rolling mill to create rolled aluminum coils to a desired gauge. Anneals temper the aluminum then it is leveled and sized to customer specification. Employing more than 400 people the facility produces aluminum sheet for building and construction automotive distribution transportation and consumer durable applications.
