Position Overview

The Novelis Warren team is seeking a Continuous Improvement Leader. This position exists to direct the Can Business Unit’s efforts in Manufacturing Excellence at the Warren plant through the creation, management and support of the business management system as well as helping to improve the performance of all facets of the manufacturing organization.  The person in this position is a LSS Black belt and a member of the local management team. 

 

Responsibilities

  • Promote EHS as a core value at the Warren plant through participation and update EHS initiatives
  • Oversee the CI process ensuring that safety targets are met during each rapid improvement event and personal use of PPE
  • Ensure that the Business Management System is established, implemented, and maintained in accordance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001
  • Oversee the efforts of the Continuous Improvement Facilitators in the preparation and follow up of rapid improvement events. 
  • Collaborate with the Corporate CI Group in all facets of continuous improvement
  • Coordinate and effectively facilitate communication for the plant to manage change positively.
  • Facilitate communication on agreed upon measures of performance (ex. customer returns, internal rejects).
  • Coordinate employee business/quality/safety training and quality improvement teams’ project work. 
  • Coordinate training and assessment of operational procedures, critical process parameters and equipment operation.
  • Develop and lead a process to conduct effecting management reviews.
  • Schedule and conduct internal audits of the EHS&Q Management System and leading the follow up of findings.
  • Maintain CI scorecards and storyboards. 

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree 
  • Lean and Continuous Improvement
  • 2-3 years of experience with management systems
  • Audit experience
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills
  • Ability to influence and collaborate with cross functional teams 

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA 
  • Running Kaizen or rapid improvement events
  • 3 years of experience with training and development programs. 
  • Proficient in data analysis

Location Profile

Novelis’ Warren facility is located in northeast Ohio— approximately an hour drive from Cleveland and an hour and a half from Pittsburgh. The facility built in 1965 applies coating to rolled aluminum beverage can sheet. The sheet is used to make aluminum beverage can ends (lids) for global soft drink beer and sparkling water brands. Warren showcases several high-end cultural venues including the Warren Community Amphitheater and Packard Music Hall. The 95+ employee Warren team is active in the community promoting recycling supporting STEM education and offering a helping hand to local community shelters.
