Novelis Oswego has an exciting opportunity for an Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Coordinator.

The EHS Coordinator will be responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of safety/occupational health controls, policies, and procedures to achieve and maintain full compliance with regulatory, permit or license requirements in the specific areas of Occupational Health & Safety.

Responsibilities

  • Recognize, evaluate and control employee exposures to industrial risks through the active facilitation of the sites Safety Programs and Policies
  • Make daily decisions that have a direct impact on the organization’s ability to maintain governmental compliance and the prevention of employee injuries and illnesses
  • Help guide facility Security services and be the liaison between them and the facility
  • Hold the responsibility of maintaining site safety and health programs, providing technical mentorship on the programs, and providing recommendations on implementation and improvements for the overall efficiency of those programs

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in a scientific field
  • 1-2 years of meaningful experience with health and safety programs and associated regulations is required
  • Be able to interact with employees on all levels of the organization effectively
  • Must be flexible and able to operate in a fast-paced environment, with ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize work
  • Proficiency at software applications, including Microsoft Office, and quick learning of new technology

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous manufacturing experience

This role’s salary starts from $74,900 per year. Individual pay will vary based on qualifications, experience, and performance. In addition to base salary, this position includes participation in a short-term incentive plan (Annual Incentive Plan - AIP or Plant Performance incentive - PPI).

Novelis Oswego is located in northern Central New York on the shores of Lake Ontario and employs approximately 1200 people. The Oswego plant produces more than one billion pounds of high-quality aluminum sheet each year serving customers in the automotive beverage can and specialty markets. In addition to its downtown shopping and dining district Oswego and the surrounding areas are renowned for fishing hiking snowmobiling and outdoor recreation across all four seasons.
