Responsibilities & Qualifications

Role Overview:

This role is designed to provide global direction for all matters involving EHS management systems within Novelis.  It will support the implementation of EHS programs and practices within the regions.  The incumbent will ensure the appropriate management of the Novelis Safety System Performance Standards, Model Programs, EHS Directives, Self- Assessment Questionnaires, etc.  The job is performed on a global basis and will support leadership in striving for a sustainable world-class EHS performance. 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Support the VP of Global EHS to develop and implement EHS strategy, policy, and procedures in line with regulations and corporate guidelines.
  • Provide system development and support globally to the EHS network.
  • Stay current with the changing landscape of regulations and standards in a proactive and strategic manner.
  • The job is performed on a global basis and, as such, the incumbent must be conversant in varying legal, political, and cultural environments in which Novelis operates.
  • Ensure the global EHS function remains current with the usage of IT technology and management systems to the fullest extent possible. The tools include items such as EtQ, Sharepoint, Power BI, and any other tools to help in automated score carding and performance visibility.
  • Provide status reports and reviews to the Novelis EHS Steering Committees as needed. Identify EHS reporting trends and provide global solutions.Provide business assurance and compliance with statutory, corporate governance, policies and business operations.
  • Interface with senior EHS and product safety leadership of other companies as a result of professional networking, due diligence efforts, benchmarking exercises, etc.
  • Participate in Novelis audits as an EHS Auditor.
  • Ensure appropriate audit tracking and score carding tools to stay abreast of most critical issues for audit gaps and overall process risk.
  • Develop and implement initiatives that target common accident casual factors and vulnerabilities.
  • Commensurate with the global nature of the position, the incumbent could be expected to travel up to 30% of the time.

Requirements 

  • Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis on either Safety, Environment, Industrial Hygiene, or engineering skillset
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in an EHS field or in the monitoring and adoption of management systems in other business area
  • Proficiency in EHS management software and/ or data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI)
  • Preferable e
  • Excellent analytical skills and experience working with large datasets.
  • Strong project management skills with a proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to engage global cross-functional teams.
