Position Overview 

Novelis Oswego has an exciting opportunity for a Roll Grinder! Roll Grinders will operate any of the four (4) roll grinding machines and produce high quality ground rolls in strict compliance to our established standards. 

Responsibilities 

• The successful candidate will be expected to operate any of the five (5) roll grinding machines and produce high quality ground rolls in strict compliance to our established standards. 
• Use the SAP system to put in maintenance or safety work orders as needed. 
• Use email to effectively communicate within the department and externally to other departments. 
• Use Lotus Notes systems to search for the latest job SOP’s, JHA’s and JI’s. 
• Use Shop Floor Process Control Plan system to stay abreast of the latest process and product requirements, whether Lotus Notes or Internet based. 
• Expected to participate in all Safety programs. 
• The ability to create written reports, document results, and maintain records. The ability to share information with coworkers is a must. 
• Attention to detail: The ability to recognize “machine personality” and out of the ordinary conditions.  

Qualifications 

• A minimum of five (5) yrs. experience as a class "A" machinist, completion of a New York Journeyman Program, or an equivalent degreed program will also be considered. 
• Experience with precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, dial indicators, and pi tapes in a production environment is required. 
• Must possess good communication skills, work as a team member, and rotate through team roles. 
• Must possess acceptable people skills. 
• Must meet basic qualifications (Operation Mobile Equipment) 
• Familiarity with run out, taper, surface finish, tolerances, blueprint reading, IPM, RPM. 
• The ability to learn and perform basic maintenance tasks. 
• Travel maybe required for training purposes

For this role, the pay is from $37.81 USD / hour. Individual pay will vary based on qualifications, experience, and performance.
