Responsibilities & Qualifications

Position Overview:

Novelis in Greensboro, GA has an opportunity to participate in our on-site summer 2025 internship. The team is seeking an Electrical Engineering Intern that can join the team for approximately 12 weeks. The person in this role will have the opportunity to participate in relevant work and gain hands on industry experience. The intern will report to the Engineering Leader and will gain experience with our local engineering team.

An engineering intern at the Novelis Greensboro site will work for the EMRA team in support of aluminum production in conjunction with the Operations and Process teams. An intern will have the opportunity to see the inner workings of large industrial machinery and systems, both from an electrical perspective during repairs and/or maintenance, and from a program logic perspective while working with our Automations Team. An intern will gain meaningful experience and insight into industrial systems, machinery operation and reliability, electrical systems, industrial burners and furnaces, and molten metal practices.

Responsibilities:

  • Learn about industrial machinery, motor controls, software programming, and state of art PLC systems.
  • Provide support for various Electrical Engineering Projects.
  • Perform Engineering drawing modifications.
  • Troubleshoot a variety of industrial manufacturing equipment including aluminum rolling lines, mobile equipment, and furnaces.
  • Work under the supervision of staff engineers on control plans, system testing, and machine commissioning.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Enrolled in an accredited 4-year University.
  • Must be a Sophomore, Junior, Senior, or recent Graduate.
  • Interested in gaining hands-on industry experience prior to graduation.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills which are essential for interacting with all levels of the organization.
  • Must be currently authorized to work in the United States for any employer.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prefer students majoring in Electrical Engineering or related fields.
  • Solid business insight
  • High interest in becoming an Engineer in a manufacturing environment
  • Familiar with MS Office and AutoCAD products.
  • Desire to learn or ability to use PLC systems.
  • Familiarity with digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, and other troubleshooting tools.

Location Profile

Novelis’ Greensboro facility is located in Greensboro Georgia. With 140 employees it is the first stand-alone used beverage can recycling facility in the company now responsible for pioneering a majority of Novelis’ recycling technologies.
