Position Overview

The Novelis North America Metal team, located in Atlanta, Georgia, is seeking a Sr. Metal Buyer. The successful candidate must be capable of communicating effectively and frequently with all levels of suppliers and plant management in performance of their responsibilities. Effective oral and written communication skills and the ability to negotiate, is a critical success factor. In addition, organizational and time management skills. The incumbent must be a self-starter and capable of making decisions.

Responsibilities

• Effectively negotiate the purchase of scrap aluminum within a defined territory
• Develop and maintain cost analysis for purchased inputs
• Maintain existing list of accounts while actively developing new business relationships
• Attends industry events and proactively communicates with suppliers to stay informed on industry trends and markets
• Ensures trades are entered accurately and material is received as expected
• Support Novelis Sustainability initiatives
• Adopt and promote the Novelis cultural beliefs of Be Open, Build Trust, Say Anything, and Be Authentic 

Minimum qualifications

• 10-15 years of Aluminum Trading experience with knowledge of ReMA Aluminum specs
• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in Business, or related field
• Excellent negotiation skills with experience building book of business
• Highly organized with strong quantitative and analytical skills
• Must be flexible and able to operate in a fast-paced environment, with ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize work
• Travel up to 50%
• Ability to establish objectives for reducing cost
• Strong Microsoft Office Suite (MS Word, Outlook, and Excel)
• Self-starter with consistent track record in problem solving/resolution
• Experience in SAP
