Position Overview

The Novelis Greensboro, GA team is seeking a Mechanical Engineer. The person in this role will report to the Engineering Leader. The ideal candidate will be responsible for handling all aspects of the mechanical maintenance function, such as design, construction, and installation of equipment design/modifications. This position will analyze, recommend, and construct design changes and improvements for a vast array of mechanical equipment. This is not a remote position.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

Responsibilities:
• Maintenance of equipment covering all phases of heavy industrial plant engineering, typical of the metals industry.
• Provide a strong mechanical understanding of process, civil, and electrical components involved in their equipment.
• Responsible for troubleshooting encounters that center around meeting production needs in the face of tight, frequently revised        schedules and/or equipment failures, the start-up of new equipment, development of new products and processes.
• Develop practical solutions to repetitive equipment failure problems that contribute to the effectiveness of the maintenance effort.
• Contribute engineering expertise to project work and selection of replacement or new equipment to help ensure consistency and      standardization of components and ease of maintenance.
• Assist in the development of engineering or maintenance procedures and repair work to ensure they are safe, effective, and            efficient.
• Responsible for managing multiple projects, efficiency, time, and budgets.


Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology
• Minimum 3-5 years of mechanical engineering experience. Preferred industrial experience.

• Refractory/mechanical engineering and project management is the main need for this position 

• Excellent communication (oral and written) skills; ability to communicate with all levels in the organization.
• Desire to take initiative and develop a pro-active relationship with employees through follow-up, understanding their needs and        fostering a collaborative relationship.


Preferred Qualifications:
• Ability to organize and prioritize responsibility; must be able to manage multiple tasks at once without sacrificing attention to          detail.
• Must be flexible and able to operate in a fast-paced and demanding environment.
• Must also possess leadership skills to direct, lead and develop other personnel to accomplish personal, plant and corporate              objectives.
• Solid computer skills with software applications proficiency, including Microsoft Office, AutoCAD

Location Profile

Novelis’ Greensboro facility is located in Greensboro Georgia. With 140 employees it is the first stand-alone used beverage can recycling facility in the company now responsible for pioneering a majority of Novelis’ recycling technologies. Residents enjoy nearby Lake Oconee which includes a number of golf communities.
