Position Overview

The Novelis North America Procurement team, located in Atlanta, GA, is seeking an Associate Category Manager, Transportation. The Associate Category Manager must have excellent negotiation skills; monitors/anticipates trends in supply, market, and industry to support the implementation of strategies, and gain alignment with collaborators. They support the execution of Strategic Sourcing Plans.

 

The jobholder is accountable, within the Transportation category, for the spend management and reporting, regional RFP processes, negotiation of regional or local frame contracts, supplier relationship management, contract compliance and risk management, and implements supplier scorecards.

 

The Associate Category Manager delivers balanced and considerable year on year savings through innovative cost savings solutions of a minimum of 4% of spend and implements state-of-the art sourcing strategies for the transportation category. The Associate Category Manager has very good collaborator engagement skills.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain a dynamic fact base database and content as part of the regional Source Plan in support of implementing a sourcing strategy.
  • Develop an extensive knowledge of the supplier base and the respective value chains to ensure continuity of supply.
  • Proactively challenge the status quo in both the needs of the business and the efficient means of meeting those needs including the consideration of alternative materials, transportation modes, services, processes, and/or vendors.
  • Assist in developing and facilitating efficiency, innovation, and cost savings workshops within the region – both internal and with supplier support.
  • Lead cost savings projects (Project Management) and fiscal year savings and/or value capture.
  • Conduct effective supplier relationship management in line with the Transportation category needs including performance metrics and use of supplier scorecards to demonstrably improve customer centricity (OTIF), or cost savings initiatives
  • Apply professional project management skills and regularly present status updates to the Sr. Manager and/or steering committee.
  • Support Novelis’ safety goals through supplier standard methodology sharing, critical metric tracking, and industry standard methodology benchmarking and process implementation: including but not limited to: accident reduction YoY, driver site recordable injury YoY reduction, etc.
  • Support organizational sustainability goals by reducing Novelis’ emissions and fuel usage through efficient transport mode exploration and transition, alternative fuel vetting and implementation, MPG improvements, Smartway carrier growth, etc.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3-5+ years in Procurement
  • Prior experience owning the strategic sourcing and commodity management
  • Experience with a multi-national organization.
  • Experienced with supply base management, logistics, and supply chain management.
  • Ability to work at all levels of the organization
  • and/or Supply Chain.
  • Strong Leadership, Interpersonal, and Communication skills
  • Experience in Negotiation and Commercial Terms Management
  • Strong quantitative, project management, and data analysis skills
  • Highly effective communications in all levels of the organization
  • Able to influence and thrive in a Team environment
  • High degree of proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Office, Power BI; SAP experience is a plus
  • Able to work cross-functionally within a Manufacturing environment
  • Experience with development of Category/Commodity Strategy
  • Communication, alignment, and management of metrics to support flawless cooperation between plant procurement teams and business objectives
  • Able to influence Teams through Projects, Challenges, and Opportunities in a matrix Organization
  • CPM and Green Belt certification

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Negotiation experience in a dynamic market is a plus.
