Position Overview

The Finance & Accounts team, located in Atlanta, Georgia, is seeking a Sr. Tax Analyst. The person in this role will report to the Manager, North America Tax. This role will support all tax aspects (direct and indirect) of the Novelis North America Region. The ideal candidate will support a wide range of responsibilities and provide hands-on support to ensure the integrity and operational effectiveness of the tax function. The candidate should possess strong analytical skills, a collaborative work ethic, self-starter and demonstrated ability to identify and drive process improvement.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation of tax provision, ETR, taxable income and deferred tax computations in accordance with ASC740.
  • Tax compliance and tax provision for United States and Canada legal entities.
  • Maintaining current knowledge of domestic and foreign authoritative tax laws, decisions, regulations and rulings and determination of their impact on Novelis.
  • Support and prepare tax analysis related to projects including R&D credit, state incentives, etc.
  • Identify and implement process improvements within the federal, state and international tax accounting and compliance environments to streamline processes.
  • Ensure accurate and timely preparation of all domestic federal and state income tax returns.
  • Exercise effective key controls and prepare the accurate level of SOX tax documentation.
  • Support indirect (sales and use, property) tax processes and procedures including return preparation, audit defense, analytical and technical support, etc.
  • Research and analyze the tax implications of proposed legislations.
  • Provide hands-on support for audits; perform independent critical analysis of proposed positions and proactively assisting with building audit defense strategy.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, tax, or finance.
  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant work experience.
  • Proven understanding of direct and indirect tax concepts and the ability to implement solutions.
  • A strong analytical ability
  • Change oriented open to feedback and able to change in response to new information, different or unexpected circumstances, and/or to work in ambiguous situations.
  • Ability to interpret and apply government regulations and related technical requirements to global business scenarios.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills and ability to influence others.
  • Integrity: Accepting and adhering to high moral, ethical, and personal values in decisions, communications, actions, and when dealing with others.
  • Excellent Verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience in handling multiple types of financial and tax systems including, but not limited to Hyperion (HFP), Oracle, SAP, OneSource (including Compliance, Dataflow and OTP), and OneStream.

Preferred:

  • MST or CPA

Location Profile

Novelis’ Global Corporate Headquarters is located in the Buckhead neighborhood of Atlanta Georgia and employs approximately 250 people. It is co-located with Novelis’ North America regional office which employs approximately 225 people.
