Shred Operators ensure a safe and environmentally sound operation, and achievement of targets related to quality and productivity.  Incumbents employ Novelis’ values in a manner that contributes to Teamwork, Caring, Excellence, Responsibility and Innovation.  Operations Technicians – Shred report directly to the Shred Area Leader, then to the Shred Business Unit Leader, and ultimately to the Operations Leader.

The following list includes primary responsibilities and is not meant to be all-inclusive.

• Actively participate in elements of Greensboro, Novelis safety system
• Ensure compliance to environmental requirements
• Unload trucks
• Ensure quality of incoming material
• Maintain feed rate to melters
• Maintain records using computerized systems, including RMAC
• Account for receipt/shipment of material by truck
• Basic maintenance of cold metal equipment
• Keep all work areas clean and bright

This is a list of physical requirements, related to a person’s ability to handle certain physical, mental, emotional demands.

• Climb on/off fork truck several times a day
• Climb stairs occasionally
• Lift up to 50 lbs
• Work rotating shift schedule, including nights and weekends
• Be able to work at temperatures <50 degrees in the winter to >100 degrees in the summer

Novelis’ Greensboro facility is located in Greensboro Georgia. With 140 employees it is the first stand-alone used beverage can recycling facility in the company now responsible for pioneering a majority of Novelis’ recycling technologies.
